Alfred James Tyler was a Police Sergeant with the Metropolitan Police. In 1919 an electoral roll showed both Daisy and Alfred had moved a couple of doors down the street to 66 Praed St.

Alfred James died in 1920 and his net worth was £155. Daisy’s name was misspelt on the probate document and this would be repeated for other records of her in the future.

In the electoral roll for 1929, there was another occupant of 66 Praed St., William Slade Vincent, and Daisy’s name had changed to Daisy Maud Vincent.

In the document of 22nd August 1930 (when William filled out Question 10 on the form in Kalgoorlie), William and Daisy were married, according to William, on 3rd December 1925 but he doesn’t say, on the form, who was the bride. William was 26 years of age and Daisy 44 years of age when they were married.

How Daisy and William met is unknown. Maybe William was in trouble with the Police and Sergeant Tyler was involved? Maybe this led to Sergeant Tyler taking William in as a boarder as he wanted to help a World War 1 veteran who may have been in trouble?

[Records of the marriage do exist. They only show the quarter of the year the wedding took place. With 20th century records of marriages in England, William and Daisy have separate entries in a register. Where the District, Vol and page numbers match their marriage is confirmed. Both their entries were in the of District Paddington, Vol 1 a, Page 166].
